New York Sound Academy to Offer DJ Courses and Music Production Courses in New York City

After ten years of success in London we are now planning to make a leap across the Atlantic and offer DJ and music production courses in New York City. Part of our mission is to create a worldwide community of music industry professionals and a network that our alumni can benefit from on a global scale. America is one of the biggest countries on the musical map and of course massive for electronic music, it's naturally the next step for us to make. Opening in New York will allow us to offer unparalleled tuition quality with one-to-one DJ lessons and music production lessons and flexible learning. We want to help students obtain the highest skill standards and success rates.

DJ Courses in New York

Upon opening New York Sound Academy (NYSA) students will be able to enrol on the full range of DJ courses currently on offer at London Sound Academy (LSA). That will include the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced DJ Courses, and our exclusive Elite DJ Course. Students will also be able to use the studio to practice their DJ skills on industry standard equipment. Upon graduation from the DJ Course they will get a string of benefits including DJ gigs and be able to continue their learning with our one-to-one music production courses on Ableton.

Beginner DJ Course $429

Eight hours of one-to-one tuition teaching you all the fundamental theory and skills you need in order to mix confidently on your own. This courses includes how to use industry-standard CDJs and Pioneers Rekordbox software. You choose your lesson times. Lessons available seven days a week at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm.

Intermediate DJ Course $429

Eight hours of one-to-one tuition. This course will extend on your beginner theory and skills and teach you about your equipment in more depth. During this course you will learn how to use all the more advanced features of the industry-standard decks and how to perform a more creative mix. This includes use of all the FX, loops, hot-cues and special transitions. Lessons available seven days a week at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm.

Advanced DJ Course $429

Eight hours of one-to-one tuition. This course will extend on your intermediate theory and skills on the industry-standard decks and prepare your for your first gigs. During this course we will sharpen your skills to a professional level and teach you the art of beat-matching and mixing on vinyl. Lessons available seven days a week at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm.

Graduation

On graduation of our advanced DJ course you will receive your certification, join the NYSA alumni and our wider international community. We organise DJ gigs for all graduates of our courses so you can start your DJ career the right way. As NYSA is the sister academy of London Sound Academy you will also have the opportunity to DJ in London, UK.

Elite DJ Course

For DJs who want to take their DJ skills to the extreme we have launched the Elite DJ Course, the most advanced DJ course available. In order to sign up for this course you must first have completed all three levels of our standard DJ course, including Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. Once you have completed those and are gig-ready you can take the challenge and enrol on the Elite DJ Course. In this course you will learn how to become a true performer, surpassing what the majority of DJs can do on stage. You will learn how to use and synchronise multiple decks and hardware units. In the set-up you will be using drum machines, sequencers, FX units and samplers. This course is for those who want to reach the top!

Custom DJ Courses

We understand that many DJs have some basic prior knowledge or have specific goals in mind when it comes to their DJ tuition. For these clients we have custom courses available where we can plan a special curriculum just for you. We offer DJ classes on Traktor, Serato, Ableton and other programs and clients are welcome to bring their own DJ equipment into the studio. If you have a controller you want to learn how to use this option might be the best for you so please contact us for more information. We also have a turntablism (scratching & beat-juggling) course available.
